The Sanatoga, what can I say, WHO can resist a PURPLE (or
grapple as my GF used to say) Gibson ES175 clone?
Sanatoga is imported by the same folks who started bringing
in the Jay Turser line, www.musiclandcentral.com,
and as far as I’m concerned they REALLY are an under appreciated brand, and
they don’t get as much attention OR affection as they should.
NOW I have spoken to some folks who HAVE HAD less than
positive experiences with their Sanatogas, but to those folks I would have to
ask, you paid HOW MUCH?
Me I got this for less than $175 shipped, so as far as I was
concerned, if it plugged in, played and kept SOME kind of tune, we were a head
of the game. The color is darker in real life that I would have liked, matter
of fact some folks call it my “blue jeans guitar”, but it is well constructed,
VERY well finished and has a decent sound to it.
Right now I don’t have any REAL definite plans, other than
replacing the pups, of course, so any suggestions would be GREATLY
appreciated HOWEVER with all these
“hybrid” guitars out there, heck even Michael Kelly has one, I have SERIOUSLY
been thinking of finding a ghost HEX pickup system and placing some acoustic style
pickups under the bridge.
The guitar has a GREAT fee to it, not to heavy (it’s a full
hollow) and not to bulky (I have short arms) and has a pretty interesting
acoustic tone, so maybe with an set of acoustic pups it would allow me to blend
and bring out some of the more interesting possibilities?
Anyone who may have installed some of those acoustic pup
systems, drop me an email and let me know how it went! I recently saw a HEX
system on a SOLID body guitar, so it can’t be THAT hard, and should have some
decent results.
I would LOVE to get one of the Sanatoga PRS copies, they
have some GREAT color palettes, plus they LOOK awesome!
